Excitement and Reflection as Albany Leadership Celebrates In-Person Graduation for the Class of 2021
The 2020-2021 academic year has been filled with adversity, challenges, and tragedy that the students, teachers, and administrative staff of Albany Leadership have overcome in ways that no one could have imagined. Senior year for the Class of 2021 started with teachers and students learning and adapting to hybrid learning and translating curriculum from in-person lessons to digital lessons through multimedia platforms.
The Class of 2021 prevailed as they worked to earn their grades, participate in virtual college tours, admissions interviews, and apply for scholarships in preparation for their futures. Many of the students are also considered front-liners as their part-time jobs in grocery stores and retail shops meant juggling hybrid and remote learning while also navigating the pandemic head-on.
On Friday, June 25, the Palace Theatre was filled with students, teachers, administrators, and parents who cheered loudly and proudly as students walked across the stage to receive their diplomas and awards. The Albany Leadership Class of 2021 has proven their strength and determination to be successful leaders of the future by their presence and excitement during the ceremony. This class displayed the true definition of sisterhood as they have unified the school after the tragic loss of classmate Chyna Forney. By their example, the community has seen what it looks like to grieve, survive, persevere, and educate the next generation to protect them against a similar fate. During their graduation, Albany Leadership recognized and honored Chyna’s life.
Albany Leadership teachers and administrators are proud of this graduating class and have no doubts that the futures of these students are already bright. Congratulations to the Class of 2021. Wishing you safety, wellness, and success in all of your future endeavors.
