Albany Leadership Charter School for Girls Announces Highly Anticipated Expansion
Albany Leadership Charter School for Girls (ALCS) has officially announced the acquisition of a new middle school location for their expansion into a 6th-12th grade continuum. ALCS will now have their middle school students in the building previously known as Bishop Maginn.
This past August, ALCS began their 2021-2022 academic school year welcoming their first sixth grade class into their academy of excellence. The growth will continue this academic school year with a new 7th and 8th grade class added to complete the middle and high school grades.
Dr. Jennie Evans, ALCS Middle School Principal said, “This expansion will be a perfect learning environment for students and teachers to thrive and will allow for progress and success to be met with a mindset of growth, adaptability, and innovation.”
The mission for ALCS is to prepare young women to graduate from high school with the academic leadership skills necessary to succeed in the college and the career of their choosing. ALCS growing into a middle and high school means they can start preparing girls at a younger age for their future. This allows them to be prepared early on for an accelerated curriculum all while familiarizing themselves with the mission statement and values of the school.
Social Emotional Learning, AVID, and career exploration are all a part of the ALCS curriculum. School leaders focus on the quality of teaching and learning, ensuring that students get what they need and that classrooms are engaging and welcoming. Albany Leadership makes it a priority each year to ensure families that their students are getting the education they need for high school, college and beyond. ALCS wants their families to know that their children are well taken care of and on a path to achieve success.
