Albany Leadership 2017 Graduate
Chloe says, “My art practice mainly consists of illustration and sculpture about my internal and external struggles with communicating and connecting with those around me.”
WHMT Public Media recently featured our Albany Leadership graduate on things she’s doing around the community. Here’s some highlights from WHMT’s story:
Originally from California, Chloe Harrison is an artist who lives in #TroyNY. She earned a BFA in Arts + Extended Media at Russell Sage College and is an illustrator, sculptor, and muralist. She was a painter in #TheUnitingLine in Troy.
Here’s our Q&A with Chloe:
What are you most excited about with this project?
One of the most exciting parts for me was meeting and talking with people in the community while painting. I loved hearing how they could see themselves or someone they knew in the characters we painted. I thought that was pretty amazing.
What do you think were some of the challenges?/ How were they overcome?
Painting a mural of such a large scale was something new for me. It’s kind of like a giant coloring book. While painting the characters, there was the challenge of painting clean line work, mixing colors, and shading. It was a fun challenge, though, for sure. I also learned so much from the other painters.
Anything else you’d want to add about Uniting Line?
I hope that the mural continues to bring joy to the community and that the project brings people together.
